Hey there, anglers! Ready to get your lines wet and experience some of the best fishing Clearwater has to offer? Hop aboard with Outlaw Gunner Charters for a half-day offshore trip that'll have you hooked from start to finish. We're talking about 4 hours of non-stop action, 15 miles out where the big ones lurk. Whether you're a seasoned pro or just getting your sea legs, this trip is your ticket to some seriously hot fishing.
Picture this: You're cruising out of Clearwater on a top-notch boat, the salt spray in your face, and the anticipation building. Our captain knows these waters like the back of their hand, so you're in for a treat. We'll be targeting a mix of tasty bottom dwellers and hard-fighting pelagics. Think Key West Grunt, Porgy, Seabass, and the crown jewels – King and Spanish Mackerel. Spring and fall? That's when things really heat up out here. And don't sweat the gear – we've got you covered with everything you need to land the big one.
Alright, let's talk strategy. We'll be using a mix of bottom fishing and trolling techniques to maximize our catch. For the bottom fish, we'll drop lines with cut bait or squid, feeling for that telltale thump. When it comes to the mackerel, we might break out the planers and spoons, or maybe even live bait if the conditions are right. Our crew will be right there with you, showing you the ropes and making sure your technique is on point. And here's a pro tip: if you've got your heart set on a particular species, give the captain a heads up. They'll let you know if it's in season and biting.
"What a wonderful experience we had on our fishing trip. Gage worked very hard with us to get our fishing trip rescheduled 2x due to unsafe weather and water conditions and Peyton did a great job getting our hooks baited and fish off, and was very quick with fileting the fish we caught. Both Gage and Peyton were friendly and helpful considering we are not experienced or knowledgable when it comes to fishing. It was a great experience for our Brazillian exchange student also! I can't wait to come back next year and will definitely choose to fish off shore next time!" - Jen
"We set out for some serious sport fishing, targeting amberjack, and we crushed it—my wife, with the help of the crew, hauled in a massive 60+ pounder! After that, we switched gears for some food fish and limited out on grunt and sea bass in no time. The boat was perfect for our group of five, and Captain Gage, Noah, and Sea Bass made the trip an absolute blast, taking great care of everyone on board. Top-notch crew, incredible fishing—100% booking with them again!" - James
"We went out on a charter on September 18 and had an absolutely amazing time! The boat was stocked with beanbags that were hands down the most comfortable things ever, making the 17-mile ride to the fishing grounds fly by. Once we arrived, it was nonstop action—pulling up fish for a full hour! 🎣 The captain and crew were incredibly knowledgeable and made the trip unforgettable. We're already looking forward to booking another trip with Outlaw Gunner Charters in the future!" - Michael
Let's break down the all-stars you'll be targeting on this trip:
King Mackerel: These speedsters are the adrenaline junkies of the sea. Hitting weights of 20-40 pounds, Kings are known for their blistering runs and aerial acrobatics. Spring and fall are prime time for these silver missiles. When one hits your line, hold on tight – it's going to be a wild ride!
Sea Bass: Don't let their size fool you; these bottom-dwellers pack a punch. Typically weighing in at 1-5 pounds, Sea Bass are a year-round target that put up a great fight on light tackle. They're also delicious, making them a favorite for the dinner table.
Spanish Mackerel: The smaller cousins of the King, Spanish Mackerel are no less exciting. These 2-4 pounders are fast and furious, often feeding in schools that can turn the water into a frenzy. Late spring through fall is the best time to target these toothy critters.
Red Porgy: Also known as Pink Snapper, these beauties are a treat to catch and eat. Averaging 1-3 pounds, they're found year-round but really start biting in the cooler months. Their light, flaky meat is a favorite among local chefs.
Look, I've been running charters out of Clearwater for years, and there's a reason folks keep coming back to Outlaw Gunner Charters. It's not just about the fish – though trust me, we'll put you on them. It's about the whole package. Our boats are dialed in with all the comforts you need for a day on the water. Those bean bags? They're not just comfy; they're a game-changer on the ride out.
But here's the real deal: it's our crew that makes the difference. We're not just here to bait your hook and net your fish (though we'll do that too). We're here to make sure you have the time of your life. Whether you're a first-timer or a seasoned angler, we've got you covered. We'll share our local knowledge, teach you new techniques, and yeah, we might even crack a few jokes along the way.
And let's talk about the action. When I say it's non-stop, I mean it. There are days out here when it feels like the fish are just jumping into the boat. But even when the bite's a little slower, we know how to adjust and find where they're hiding. That's the advantage of local knowledge – we don't just fish these waters, we live and breathe them.
Alright, folks, here's the bottom line: if you're looking for a half-day of offshore action that'll leave you with stories to tell and fish in the cooler, this is your trip. We've got the boat, the gear, and the know-how to make it happen. Whether you're bringing the family, a group of buddies, or just looking to get out on your own, we've got room for up to 4 anglers.
Remember, we offer evening trips too, departing at 4:00 p.m. for those who want to catch the sunset bite. And here's a pro tip: if you're visiting during peak season, don't wait to book. These trips fill up fast, and trust me, you don't want to miss out.
So what are you waiting for? Grab your spot on the boat, and let's get out there and make some memories. The fish are biting, the water's calling, and we're ready to show you the best of what Clearwater has to offer. Book now, and get ready for a fishing trip you'll be talking about for years to come. See you on the water!

Captain and deckhand made us feel completely at home from the start. We booked an inshore trip, but after seeing the bite wasn’t as hot as it should be, the captain upgraded us to a deep-sea trip at no extra cost—just to make sure my kids had an unforgettable experience for my daughter’s 10th birthday trip from Texas. When I say we were hooking fish every 30 seconds, I’m not exaggerating! 🎣 The deckhand kept our bait ready and had fish off the hook before we even had time to cast again. Professional, courteous, and beyond accommodating, they made the trip truly special. The bean bag ride was a blast, the conversation was great, and I even picked up some fishing tips along the way. By the time we got back, our deckhand filleted all 40 of our fish in no time, and as I write this, I’m at a restaurant enjoying the fresh catch we reeled in. Outlaw Gunner Charters has the best ratings for a reason—#1 in my book! Anytime I’m in Florida, they’re the only crew I’m booking with!

We had an absolutely amazing time! Heading out at 4 PM could’ve been tricky with the weather and warm water, so we weren’t sure how the bite would be—but it was nonstop action! It felt like the ocean was just giving fish away! Captain and Peyton were fantastic—friendly, knowledgeable, and super fun to be around. They made the trip both educational and exciting, and we truly had the best time! Oh, and let’s not forget... Captain was gorgeous too!

Awesome crew! Captain Gage and his chief mate were fantastic hosts—patient, professional, and super attentive. In just 30 minutes on the water, we were pulling in fish like crazy! Unfortunately, my wife got sick and had to head back early, but for me and my son, it was an absolute thrill! The rush of the bite and the fight to reel them in was unbeatable. Definitely an experience we won’t forget!

I had a great trip with Gage. He and Noah really know how to put you onto fish. We caught amberjack, mangrove snapper, grunt, and several groupers. It was a great day on the eastern Gulf!

Today I had the most amazing time fishing ever! Both Gage and Payton are top notch and we had soooo much fun! Biggest regret, not booking a longer trip! Caught so many fish! And we went to a local restaurant that cooked it for us! Soo good! Seriously will come back!

King Mackerel are real speedsters, often called "kings" for good reason. These silver torpedoes usually run 20-40 pounds but can top 90. You'll find them 15-150 feet deep, especially around structures and bait schools. Spring and fall are prime time, when they're migrating through our waters. Anglers love 'em for their blistering runs and aerial acrobatics - hooking one feels like tying into a freight train. Their meat is rich and oily, great for smoking. To land a king, try slow-trolling live bait like blue runners or mullet. Here's a pro tip: use a stinger rig with two hooks to improve your hookup ratio. Kings have a habit of short-striking baits, so that trailing hook can make all the difference.

Red Porgy, also called Pink Snapper, are a tasty treat in our deeper waters. These rosy-hued fish usually run 1-4 pounds but can reach up to 35. You'll find them hanging around rocky bottoms and reefs in 100-400 feet of water. They're available year-round but seem to bite best in cooler months. Anglers prize Red Porgy for their delicate, white meat that's perfect for the grill. They're not the hardest fighters, but they make up for it on the dinner plate. To catch 'em, use small hooks baited with squid or cut bait. Here's a local secret: Red Porgy are often mixed in with other bottom species, so if you're catching Snappers or Groupers, there's a good chance Porgies are down there too. Fish patiently and you might just fill the cooler with these tasty critters.

Sea Bass are bottom-dwellers with attitude. These black beauties average 1-2 feet and weigh up to 9 pounds. You'll find them hanging around reefs, wrecks, and rocky bottoms from 60-250 feet deep. They're most active in spring and fall when water temps are milder. Anglers love targeting sea bass for their aggressive bite and excellent table fare - firm, white, and flaky. They put up a decent fight for their size too. To catch 'em, drop down cut squid or clams on a simple bottom rig. Here's a local trick: once you find a school, work it fast. Sea bass are competitive feeders, so the bite can be hot but short-lived. Get your bait down quick and be ready for that telltale thump.

Spanish Mackerel are the speedsters of our nearshore waters. These sleek, silver fish with yellow spots typically run 2-4 pounds but can reach up to 12. You'll find them in schools, often near the surface, around inlets and beaches. They're most active here in spring and fall during their migrations. Anglers love Spanish for their fast runs and acrobatic jumps - they'll make your reel sing. Plus, they're delicious when grilled fresh. To catch 'em, try trolling small spoons or jigs behind planers. Here's a tip: look for diving birds to find feeding schools. When you spot them, cast small, flashy lures into the fray and retrieve fast. Spanish can't resist a fleeing baitfish, so hang on tight!
